Frogmore Infant School

British Values

At Frogmore Infant School, we are committed to serving our community and promoting values that foster a respectful, inclusive and democratic society. We recognise that schools play an essential role in helping all children develop the knowledge, skills and attributes needed to participate positively in society. Their understanding of, and respect for, the British values at an age appropriate level is embedded into our whole school curriculum:
  • Democracy (making decisions together)- children experience democracy through daily choices such as voting for a storybook, taking turns, and through participating in school decisionĀ  making such as the purchasing of playground equipment;
  • The rule of law (understanding boundaries)- we work together to understand and implement our class codes and school values. Through these children learn how rules can keep us safe and happy;
  • Individual liberty (freedom to choose)- we encourage children to make independent choices in a safe environment, and teach children to know how to keep safe and about the importance of personal choice and views;
  • Mutual respect (treating others with kindness and respect)- we foster a culture of kindness and teach children how to listen to each other, appreciate different viewpoints, and understand that everyone's feelings and ideas matter;
  • Tolerance of different faiths and beliefs (celebrating similairities and differences)- through e.g.Ā  diverse storybooks, assemblies, celebrations, and activities, our children learn to value different families, faiths and cultures, fostering a community where everyone belongs.

We are proud to promote a learning environment where every child is valued and supported to become a thoughtful, respectful and active citizen.Ā
